Meet Bendheim

The resource for specialty architectural glass since 1927.

Our Story

Founded in New York City in 1927, Bendheim’s history is rooted in the careful sourcing and distribution of specialty glass, with a long-standing focus on material quality, authenticity, and performance. Over decades, the company has evolved from a specialty glass supplier into a trusted partner to architects and designers, particularly in projects where light, texture, and material integrity are central to the architectural intent.

Years of Innovation

A third generation family owned business that began as a husband and wife team, the Bendheim name has been synonymous with glass innovation – and we have developed decades-long relationships that have been the backbone of our business. From our start as importers of art glass through our pioneering of the many processes and systems that are standard in architectural glass today, our goal remains the same: do with glass what others think cannot be done.

Central to that legacy is Bendheim’s partnership with Glashütte Lamberts, which spans nearly a century. This collaboration is based on a shared commitment to traditional glassmaking methods and the preservation of mouth-blown craftsmanship. Through this relationship, Bendheim has been able to bring authentic, handmade glass – defined by its subtle movement, variation, and interaction with light – to architectural projects across the United States. The partnership continues to bridge heritage and contemporary design, ensuring that the material qualities of historic glass remain accessible and relevant in modern architecture.
